Kungens Män

Kungens Män started out in 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden, when a bunch of good friends decided to bring some instruments when hanging out. The random jam sessions became more and more regular and soon Kungens Män started recording it all, completely unfiltered and without safety nets. The music soon found its way to the internet and people seemed to like it. From the debut and onwards, every show has been a different story. Always new sounds and improvisations, different guest musicians, different happenings. Kungens Män are rooted in the psychedelic/drone rock tradition of bands such as Träd, Gräs & Stenar, but also add influences from krautrock, shoegaze, noiserock and free jazz.

Trappmusik (2020)

Kungens Ljud & Bild (Streaming)
Adansonia Records (2LP)

With six musicians they have created a bit eerie, hypnotic but adventurous, experimental and psychedelic sonic universe. The mostly contemplative album is varied enough to keep the listener interested for the whole trip and especially the saxophone adds a pretty jazzy vibe to some of the pieces. [...] All in all, I must say that Trappmusic is perhaps the best album by Kungens Män. It’s good to hear them constantly mutating and experimenting without loosing their essence.

Hårt Som Ben (2019)

Kungens Ljud & Bild (Streaming)
Riot Season Records (LP)

This is a superb record which highlights the many shades of Kungens Män. As on the last record ‘Chef’ they essentially work with simple ingredients but really know how to create something very special from them. They manage light and shade and the dynamics that help to define a really great record and therefore whilst it’s a record of huge contrasts in style and mood it works together beautifully.

CHEF (2019)

Kungens Ljud & Bild (CD, Streaming)
Riot Season Records (LP)

Once again Kungens Män have delivered an album which is satisfying on so many levels. From pure psychedelic freak out, to exploratory ramblings, and all imbued with a sense of communal priority to create together a work of immense intelligence, Chef is an album which begs for continued listens and deep immersion. That it is so accessible too, makes that genius shine through even more so. Superb.
